Sharing accounts

  • I noticed in a thread in "What If" that Kate18 had offered to share her account with a spcrew member that was no longer going to be here.

I wanted to guys to know that I did PM Kate and inform her of the terms that she had agreed on when she signed up. Which are...

You agree not to share your user name and password with anyone else; each user should have his or her own
personal account and password. Unauthorized access through improper password use may result in termination of the password owner's account and perhaps legal action as well.

I know it was a nice gesture, but there is personal information there and there are actual dangers to that being exposed.

    Thanks!

I just saw that Lely was also sharing her account with a girl named Katie. I informed her about the agreement.
I really wish people would stop sharing accounts.

I didn't want to get into this thread because it would lead into arguements but this time I have to.
I agree that it's against the rules and all of that and I see that you're just trying to do your job but really these are people that do nothing wrong.
A person that can not afford to renew but loves this message board and doesn't want to lose touch with the people is not trying to get here without payment, they're just honestly trying to have some sort of touch around until they can afford renewing!
The thing between Lely and Katie is not sharing accoutns. I know those two girls very well and Katie only goes on Lely's account once a million years when Lely tells her only to read Lely's story and comment that is all. She doesn't read anything else around, she doesn't post anything else around and she doesn't check the SPCrew's site. She simply reads a story that one of her closest friends has written and lets her friend know what she thinks about it. Is it really that bad?
Sharing acount is if they both used this account for everything to save money and not pay twice but she really only reads the story her friend wrote...

Efrat, it is written in the rules that there will be NO sharing of accounts. It's not fair to the people who do and can pay to be on here. I understand where your coming from where people want to keep in touch with one another, but that's what myspace, facebook, twitter and so on and so fourth are for and they are all free to access. The forum is as much a part of the SP Crew site as the content featured on any other page of this site and is prohibited from public access for a reason. There is no reason why stories cannot be shared on facebook or myspace or even via email so there's really no reason for anyone to be logging into anyone else's account.

I get it and I know it but this is how I feel about it. I don't think that as mods we need to look through the SPCrew and report those little things, because that's going against the members and bringing them down instead of helping them...
I can understand telling the member itself about it but I think that it is a little not nice and quite against them to go and talk about it at mod discussions and report to the admin right away.

Well Efrat I am not really sure how you work, but I thought it was fair to inform all the MODS on what actions I took towards something. It's better that we are all on the same page instead of confusion.
I did not say anything negative towards anybody, I simple just stated that someone wasn't following the rules and that I had said something.
That Efrat is called communication. That is what we need between the MODS. I honestly do not understand what your problem is. Your words are not golden and you are not god. Please focus on what your responsibility is and I will focus on mine. If you do not want me to share what I have done, then fine. Stay on the boards more often and do your job instead of expecting everyone to do it for you then criticizing them about it.
End of that.

In all honesty, when you think about it, there are a lot of little things that we let slip. If you read the rules, swearing isn't allowed, and ALL of our signatures are too big among many other things. But this is stuff we let slide because its minor things that really don't infringe on anyone's rights and doesn't make anyone feel unwelcome or uncomfortable. But this is one of those things that NEEDS to be discussed. Because if we allow this to happen, then eventually everyone is going to start sharing accounts and information and content intended for us will begin to leak and when that happens, EVERYONE is going to be unhappy.

Things were handled in a very civilized manner. These members were SPOKEN to and asked to stop sharing their accounts. In reality, anyone (mods and members alike) who had stumbled upon this information is well within their rights to take it much further than any one of us did and actually contact artist arena. The people who did this were, and are, valued members of this fan club and no one wanted to risk them having their memberships revoked and that is why these individuals were contacts and asked to stop sharing their accounts. But, as MODS, regardless if we're friends with the people who are breaking a rule such as this, we MUST make note of it and inform our higher ups, it's our JOBS.

This is one of those rules that we cannot simply ignore as it is in place for a reason.

Sharing accounts should not be ignored. In reality, if more people started to share accts instead of renewing, the site may not be able to exist. Just something to think about. The more members who renew, and the more who join, the more great stuff we could afford to do for and with SPCrew.
